The 9 tracks of the month. Here are the Sounds Of September.
*********Track 1 - House Of Gold by twenty one pilots
I stumbled across this band about a week or so ago but I've already grown a found liking to them. The American duo have just released their debut album Vessel which includes some extremely catchy alternative indie pop songs. Worth a listen.
Track 2 - All The Wrong Places by Example
Probably the odd one out in this month's playlist. The new single taken from Example's 4th studio album The Evolution Of Man is a dance track with a heavy bass but the distorted keyboard introduction gives an extra zest to the song.
Track 3 - Can We Dance by The Vamps
The once barely known boy band from YouTube have made it into the real world with their brand new single. They are currently supporting Selena Gomez on her Stars Dance Tour in London and I'm pretty sure it won't be long until they are touring on their own in large capacity arenas.
Track 4 - Sex by The 1975 (EP Version)
Previously released in 2011, The 1975 have re-released their killer single Sex. They kicked off September by releasing their debut album The 1975 (our album of the week) which includes the singles Chocolate and The City. Full review on our Album Of The Week Page.
Track 5 - Lost Generation by Rizzle Kicks
A song about living a world dominated by reality TV and fake antics is what hip hop dynamic duo Rizzle Kicks illustrate in their first single from second album Roaring 20's. A lovely mixture of rapping and singing accompanied with a video created by keen media students as part of a Think Big project, a brand new organisation giving young people in the UK a chance to exceed beyond the school gates.
Track 6 - Hold On We're Going Home by Drake
Upon first listen, it was barely noticeable that this is a Drake track. It seems like Drake has taken some very useful advice from fellow American soul RnB singer Frank Ocean. The slow pure voice track is a new step in the right direction for Drake but still has a tiny essence of 2010 track Find Your Love. More songs like this please?
Track 7 - Strong by London Grammar
If you listen to this song whilst stressed out about being back at school or work, it won't take you long to be brought back to serenity. London Grammar were formed after meeting at Nottingham University in 2009. In 2012, they released their debut single Hey Now on YouTube which now has over 800,000 views. The peculiar vocals of lead singer Hannah Reid make this track along with a subtle drum playing in the background.
Track 8 - Counting Stars by One Republic
After the two rather impressive singles of Stop and Stare and Apologize released back in 2008, One Republic have reformed to create their latest masterpiece album Native. The folky tones of this song mixed in with Ryan Tedder's lead vocals make this the perfect feel good end of summer autumn welcoming song.
Track 9 - Awkward by San Cisco
I was introduced to this band by my Media Studies teacher at the end of the last school year as he enjoyed the creativity of the music video with the use of overheard text bubbles similar to the iPhone format. I haven't stopped listening to this song since July. This song however was released in the US back in November 2011. However, the catchy, cutesy beat will draw you in the second you hear it, trust me.
