Petition to Protect BBC Music Services

The BBC's Music Services are a fundamental part of the UK music industry. Without the likes of BBC Radio 1 and BBC Introducing, many of the top UK artists today wouldn't be where they are. The likes of Ed Sheeran, James Bay and Years and Years would seize to dominate the charts had they not been given the support from the BBC.

In 2013, the music sector contributed £3.8 billion to the UK economy and brought a host of jobs, tourism and brought across the sense of UK music being the one of our biggest global exports.

The government are announcing budgetary cuts during the charter renewal process. The UK music industry is important for all kinds of reasons. It is imperative that we are able to keep it funded to allow more and more up and coming artists reach their goals and keep the musical ecosystem in this country going.

I urge every single person reading this to sign the following petition. Once you have signed it, get your friends and family to sign it too. Tweet your favourite artists to sign it - no matter what part of the globe they are from. Every signature counts.

Use the hashtag #LetItBeeb on Twitter to spread the word.
