The 1975's critically acclaimed sophomore album 'I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It' left us asking a lot of questions. The first - how can a band be so outwardly pretentious to give their album such a long title? But, more importantly than that, the second - where do The 1975 fit on the 'spectrum'?

Once a textbook rock band laden with guitars and noise, they have now turned into an 80's funk renaissance accompanied with electronic soundscapes, with incredible success. Success that has taken them to the O2 Arena...twice.

Last Friday night saw The O2 come alive with the echo of 20,000 spectators witnessing a show like no other. Mash both the guitar heavy tracks of the debut and the pop numbers of the second album together and you get the most beautifully diverse, authentic and natural show The 1975 have ever performed. The best of both crazy worlds combining to provide the crowd with something to savour forever. Amongst the chart topping hits came the powerful and emotive instrumentals delicately bridging one song to the next.

The gap between 'Milk' and 'Loving Someone' saw a new side to the "pretentious, egotistical" Matty Healy, who influenced the crowd with the importance of loving one another and fighting off inequality. During the bonus feature 'Fallingforyou' a proposal took place, much to the delight and slight disbelief of Healy.

The "band of 2016" have just got a whole lot bigger.
