Lily Allen has caused a lot of discussion this week. With the release of her cover of Keane's Somewhere Only We Know featured in this year's John Lewis Christmas advert, and now the release of her new controversial single, of a completely different subject and purpose.
Hard Out Here is a song about the increase in women's objectification within the music industry and how men are ignored and allowed to be as sexual as possible. The Robin Thicke and Miley Cyrus argument described in lyrics basically. How Robin Thicke objectifying women is ok yet Miley Cyrus acting deviant is a moral sin. Although the song offers way too much unnecessary auto tune and overuses the word bitch, it does in fact prove a point. Lily covers a modern day issue which has plagued our minds more in the last 6 months than ever before.
I say well done Lily.
